    Managing Your Tenants

    Instructor:  Violet Wilson

    This seminar deals with addressing problem tenants and related issues, such as

    * Which forms to use

    * Alternative processes

    * Successfully going through an eviction process.  

    There is usually not just one way to deal with an issue and the goal of this seminar is to give landlords a menu of options that will lead to a successful outcome.

    FAIR HOUSING ADVANCED TOPICS

    Location: Madison Avenue Conference Room - 500 SW Madison Ave, Corvallis

    Guidance regarding fair housing is ever-evolving and often complex. The City of Corvallis presents this free training with Diane Hess of the Fair Housing Council.  Fair Housing: Advanced Topics will take a closer look at trends that those managing higher volumes of properties often encounter. Attendees will participate in both small and large group discussions around topics such as:

    * Best Practices & Common Mistakes - Screening Applicants (e.g., questions to avoid)

    * Protected classes (i.e. families, gender, age)

    * Criminal background

    * Hording

    * Reasonable Accommodation (i.e. service animals)

    * Harassment

    Attendees should have a working knowledge of fair housing law and be prepared to engage in discussion with peers

    Continuing education credits will be offered through a partnership with the Linn-Benton Rental Housing Association.

    If it has been a while or you have never attended a Fair Housing Training,

    this course is for you.

    Housing discrimination is a serious issue across the rental housing market. Landlords often do not recognize how their own practices and biases measure up against state and federal fair housing laws.  The City of Corvallis presents a free training with Diane Hess of the Fair Housing Council of Oregon.  Diane will provide real-world examples and offer guiding principles to help landlords understand their responsibilities. Come and learn in a friendly environment with time for questions and discussion. New landlords are strongly encouraged to attend!
